Ashraya Housing Scheme Karnataka 2025: Financial Support For House To Poor Families

The Karnataka government is always working for the betterment of Poor and BPL Families. If any families who belong to the economically weaker section of Karnataka, then they will get final support to build their own house. In this scheme government specially targets the BPL of reserved categories like SC, ST and OBC. The scheme is managed by Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation Limited.

If you are searching for an affordable housing scheme in Karnataka, then the state government has launched the Ashraya Housing Scheme for economically weak sections and low-income group families. This is one of the schemes that provides financial support to low-income families to construct their homes. The scheme is also popularly known as Basava Vasati Yojana, which is implemented by the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation Limited (RGRHCL). The main initiative to start this housing scheme is to provide shelter to homeless families living in very inadequate conditions.

Ashraya Housing Scheme

This housing scheme helps poor and homeless family to uplift their socioeconomic status. The main priority for every family is to build their own house. Due to an increase in construction costs, some families are not able to afford the construction costs of the house. In the Ashraya Housing Scheme, affordable housing will be provided to families below the poverty line families especially those belonging to the scheduled caste, scheduled tribe and other backwards communities. In this scheme person who is a physically challenged widow and transgender also gets benefits. The house constructed under this scheme is eco-friendly, cost-effective, and constructed in rural areas.

Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation Limited is implementing this scheme, which was established in the year 2000. Over the last two decades, this scheme has been working, and the name of the scheme has also changed. The scheme is also aligned with the Central Government’s Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

Features of the Ashraya Housing Scheme

• The main key feature of this housing scheme is that it will provide affordable housing. Houses that are constructed are basically 300 square feet with basic facilities like water, electricity and sewerage.
• Financial support of Rs 1 lakh 20 thousand will be provided for beneficiaries from the general category. SC and ST category applicants from rural areas will get 1.75 Lakh.
• In urban areas, SC and ST beneficiaries will get up to Rs 2 Lakhs.
• In the urban areas, beneficiaries can construct multi-storey apartments in cities like Bangalore.
• Priority will be given to 30% for SC, 10% for ST and 10% for minorities in some schemes at the time of allotment.
• Applications are invited online, and the tracking system will help to reduce the level of misuse.
• There is no application fee needed to apply for this housing scheme.

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicant should be a permanent resident of Karnataka.
• The annual income of the family in a rural area is not more than Rs. 32000/-. In an urban area, the family income is not more than Rs 42000/-.
• The benefit is only given to families who are homeless and do not have a permanent home.
• Applicant age should be at least 18 years.

• Income certificate (From the Revenue Department)

• Permanent residence/ Domicile certificate
• Labour registration number (For construction workers)
• Passport-size photograph
• BPL or Antoday Ration Card

Benefits Of Scheme

• The main benefit of this scheme is a subsidy which is 1.20 Lakh in rural areas. The Schedule caste and Scheduled tribe subsidy amount is 1.75 Lakh. In urban areas, SC and ST beneficiaries get Rs 2 lakh.
• If any beneficiary takes a loan on behalf of this housing scheme, then the interest rate is 6.5% per annum. Beneficiaries will get a subsidy on interest
• This scheme applies to both rural and urban areas.
• Low-income groups and economically weak sections will get priority in the scheme. If you belong to SC, ST, OBC and special category, you will get priority in this scheme.

Process To Acquired The Benefits of Ashraya Housing Scheme

• All the interested applicants who want to avail the benefit of the Ashraya Housing Scheme can submit their application forms through the https://ashraya.karnataka.gov.in/ online web portal.
• In the initial step, you have to visit on RGRHCL official website, and you will see an apply option in the citizen services section.
• In the registration session, you have to provide basic details like your full name, mobile number, email ID, Aadhar card number, etc.
• When your registration process is completed after verification, you can login with your credentials
• Now fill that application form with the remaining details like your cast name, income, complete address, etc.
• Upload the necessary documents and then complete your submission.
• For offline submission, applicants can visit the Bangalore One centre, BBMP Ward centres to submit their application by hand.
