About Kerala State Housing Board
The backbone behind this Life Mission Kerala is the Kerala State Housing Board. This was established on 5th March 1971. The Kerala State Housing Board designed and organised the works for all kinds of Housing development all over the state for the different income groups. Under which every category, people like the High Income group, LIG and even Poor families can also apply for the scheme.
Aim to Launch
By launching this scheme, the aim is only to provide a secure and pucca house to all the homeless and landless families of the state of Kerala. This scheme was first launched in 2016.
Features of Scheme
By 2026, this mission is going to provide more than 6.5 lakh houses to the eligible. Till February 2024 total of 3.7 Lakhs Houses have been provided to the beneficiaries. This scheme only has the objective to construct houses who are living without a house or land.
Apart from Housing Facilities, this scheme is also working to provide the overall quality of life to the people by providing them the social services like Healthcare and skill development help.
Under this scheme, the government provides benefits with priority to the people who belong to the scheduled Tribe and caste, Fishermen and the people who are living in temporary houses.
Benefits of the Scheme
Affordable and Free services are provided to the people under Life Mission Kerala. These Houses have an area of 454 to 500 sq. Feet. The cost of this house is about Rs 4 Lakhs. But the contribution to the cost of the houses has been made by the government of Kerala.
Apart from it, the fund for these housing costs is contributed by the self-government bodies of the state, organisations like HUDCO and other public contributions.

Every participating family should be a permanent citizen of Kerala.
Have no house or land.
You are the holder of the Kerala State Ration Card.
The annual income of the family is less than Rs 3 Lakhs.
You and any of the family members are not in a government job.
Under this scheme, the special priorities will also be given to the people who belong to the scheduled tribe and Caste, flood-affected families of the state, EWS and Fishermen of Kerala state.
