Perunthalaivar Kamaraj Housing Scheme 2025: Benefits, Eligibility

To provide financial assistance to the houseless poor, the Pondicherry government was started Perunthalaivar Kamaraj Housing Scheme for the construction of a house. This is an initiative taken by the Pondicherry government to provide a pucca house to poor families. This scheme is specially started for the Welfare and development of the poor family. The government had decided to build 22,500 of the economically weak section. This scheme helps families financially so they can easily build their house in Pondicherry.

Financial support for house construction is provided by every state government. Central Government also provide financial support under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Now Pondicherry government has started this Scheme to help economically weak families come under the poverty line.

In the scheme, the government will provide financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh per house. With the scheme, the government provides basic facilities, including concrete houses in place of huts. Pradhanmantri Aawas Yojana is implemented with the scheme in which the Subsidy amount will be enhanced from Rs. 2.25 Lakh to Rs. 5 lakh. The remaining amount is contributed by the Pondicherry government.

Perunthalaivar Kamaraj Housing Scheme

The Town and Country Planning Department in Pondicherry was established in 1965. The main work of this department is to develop Pondicherry with good infrastructure and plan the city with better facilities. The department is also working in the urban as well as rural areas of this union territory.

The Pondicherry government regularly works for the betterment of those below the poverty line. To provide them a good quality of life, the government had decided to revive the popular housing scheme, Perunthalaivar Kamaraj Housing Scheme. According to the Town and Country Planning Department of Pondicherry, they sanctioned 13,843 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban. 7,595 house Constructions are already completed.

There are a total of 4362 houses that have been completed with an investment of Rs. 32241 Lakh. Centre Government committed Rs. 19669.50 Lakh financial support and their release Rs. 16249.50 Lakh. The state government committed to providing Rs. 24,859 Lakh for this scheme, and they released Rs. 16335.10 Lakh for the implementation of the Awas Yojana in Pondicherry state.

Objective Of Scheme

According to Chief Minister N Rangasamy, the Pondicherry government is again going to revive the Perunthalaivar Kamaraj Housing Scheme. In this Revival process, they are increasing the financial support amount up to Rs. 5 lakh. The main objective of launching the scheme is to provide houses to poor families. BPL will receive 5 lakh financial assistance from the Pondicherry government, of which Rs. 2.25 lakh is given by the central government. With this support, amount family can easily build their house.

Eligibility Criteria For Housing Assistance

To avail the benefit of the scheme, the government of Pondicherry make some eligibility conditions. If you want to apply for the scheme, then you have to fulfil this eligibility criterion:-

  • Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for the scheme.
  • A permanent resident of Pondicherry is eligible.
  • Applicant’s family annual income is not more than Rs. 24,000/-.
  • This scheme is only for homeless families.
  • Applicant should belong to BPL/ economically weak section.

Financial Support

In this scheme, the total financial assistance provided under the scheme is Rs 5 lakh.

Rs 2.25 Lakh will be provided by the central government under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

Rs 2.75 Lakh will be given by the Pondicherry government.

Pondicherry cabinet decided to expand Perunthalaivar Kamaraj Financial Assistance Scheme (PKFAS). In this scheme government will provide financial assistance for the construction of house to the Unprivileged families. The scheme is merged with the Central Government housing schemes.
